Some quick sewing

Last week, our pastor and his wife invited my family to dinner.  As it was a last minute invitation, I was not prepared with a gift. So I decided to sew up something quick, a crazy patch mug rug for my pastor and his wife each.  I have a lot of scraps which came in handy.  After a few hours, I managed to come up with following:

Pastor’s wife put it to use on her dining table.  The setting looks so romantic. 🙂

Upon the request of Pastor’s wife, I stitched up a parking coupon wallet so that she could keep her parking coupons safely.  Again using scraps and practice quilt sandwiches.

The last photo above showed that the parking coupon wallet is a little too short.  Oh dear.

Update:  I sewed another parking coupon wallet.  This time a gigantic one.  It should fit the parking coupons now.  🙂  I use crazy patch style to sew the partition within the wallet.

I have been watching Youtube videos and decided to sew a rag bag using this video.

I wanted a bag with zipper so with the help of this video, I came up with the recess zipper. 🙂

I also added a pocket in the lining of the bag.

After I finished, my husband commented that it looks ‘unfinished’.  I carried it to church on Sunday and my youngest son asked why I was carrying a bag that was not completed. 😦

Pastor’s wife was very encouraging.  She said discerning women will like my bag.  LOL.

This week I am back to sewing string blocks for Charlotte’s Baskets, the long overdue quilt for my daughter.

  1. I like the bag – it would be great to use on a “jeans/t-shirt/running errands around town” kind of day. And the mug rugs look so nice! I like the way you pieced the tops with all the strings of fabrics. Scrap projects are the best; I always feel like I’ve made something for ‘free’ when I use my scraps. 🙂 Thanks so much for linking to Main Crush Monday. I hope you are having a great week!
