Little Dresses for Africa

I chanced upon Sew and Sow Farm blog by Jan last week and read that she is embarking on ‘Dresses for Africa’ project.  What a worthy cause.  I know immediately that I would like to participate.  I followed Jan’s tutorial and managed to sew a cute little dress.

Then I saw Lillian’s pattern.  Lillian is an inspiration as she has sewn more than a 1000 dresses.  I was a little hesitant to sew with this pattern at first as I do not have much experience sewing garments and this pattern is more involved than the one shown in Jan’s tutorial.  Anyway I decided to go ahead and used Lillian’s pattern.  To my surprise it was not as difficult as I thought.

I am very pleased with how the little dress turn out.  Now I have 2 dresses all ready to send to Jan.

To show my support for May is for Makers, I have purchased the Spinning pattern from Beth at Cooking Up Quilts.  she has just released that pattern.

I am linking up with Sew Simple Saturday at Sew and Sow Farm. Hope you will join me to bring cheer to the girls in Africa.

  2. These are so cute! You did great- your bias ties are so neat! I don’t like wrestling with bias :). Some little girls are going to be very happy.
